The ASMR commsisioned Deloitte Access Economics Report:
 
Return on NHMRC funded Research and Development
was launched today (October 31 2011) by
Mark Butler, Minister for Health and Ageing

Key findings of the Report are:
  • Gains in wellbeing with the aversion of 98,426 disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) valued at $6 billion
  • Avoidance of $581 million in direct health expenditure costs
  • The aversion of $385 million in indirect costs, including productivity losses incurred through premature mortality and morbidity related reductions in workforce participation
  • Estimated commercial benefit across the disease groups of $1.6 billion

This program is aimed at assisting health and medical researchers to achieve their full potential. Researchers who are between 5-12 years postdoc are invited to participate.
